I was in a one-week kiteboarding trip and tested it side-by-side with an anemometer. The readings were very much the same between the app and the instrument. It works seamlessly as advertised.

This app does not work as indicated. Stood in a confirmed 20 mph breeze and the meter did not register anything.
This is a great app. Super simple, and does what it says! Just dont cover your microphone when you hold it into the wind, and it is accurate. Nice to not have to bring a separate wind meter to the beach anymore.
Great application! Easy to use and very accurate. Have compared results side by side against a mechanical/electrical wind meter and always the results are very close.
Too bad it maxs out at 25mph! It should be able to show wind speeds at any number as do many of the other apps do. Please see if this can be done. I line in Miami and would be very handy during a storm.
This app did not work for me even during hurricane! I am asking for my .99 cents back for sure. Lol I tried doing everything to get it to work, but nothing
This thing actually works! Very cool app.
seems to work very well with the new iPhone 5. I was getting the same reading as a weather station a mile away, and could see it react to small wind gusts. Pros: I think this app is better to have than a wind meter: costs $1 vs $35 plus you normally have your phone on you right? Seems to be very accurate on iPhone 5 (has 3 microphones) Cons: wont estimate wind speed over 25 knots May not work as well when using a bulky protective case around the microphone
I can rarely get a breeze of under 10 mph to register so its Not great for low wind conditions where you need to know what size kite to unpack.
Completely worthless. During hurricane, it registers 12 mph. Save your money.
This app turns up side down on my phone, why ?
Ive used the wind meter several times at lake. First time I was standing high on shore and the wind meter worked well in 13 - 15 mph wind. Second time I was on the lake. My estimation the wind 3 - 5. The wind meter didnt take a reading. For what it cost, Im happy.
Sometimes it gives you a number, sometimes it doesnt. As to whether the times it gives a number are actually correct or not, I have no idea. But as often as not, it shows zero, or doesnt report any wind, when in fact the wind is noticeably strong. Im buying a simple portable anemometer for my hiking trips. Ill compare it to this app in the future and see if the apps numbers (when it does work) are correct or not. I may add a star or subtract a star later depending on what I learn from that.
I can see it on my apps store but it will not load to my phone. I have it on my iPod but cant load to the phone? Help
This is totally innaccurate. Not even close when measured against an anemometer. Save your $1 or donate it to charity.
Crap....shoulda saved my whole $.99
Dont waste your money. This app does absolutely NOTHING!
Only way I could get a reading was to blow in it.
Quite accurate. Would be nice to measure higher wind speed ... or is it getting unaccurate at higher speed?
I just bought the app when we have high wind warning, took the iPad out and measured at 24mph. It should be 80 mph or so. Not accurate at all!
